Executive Order No. 296

EXECUTIVE BRANCH HIRING

    I, William F. Weld, Governor of the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts, by virtue of the authority vested in me, do
hereby order as follows:

    Section I

     No employee shall be hired by any agency within the
executive department without the prior written approval of
the Secretary of Administration and Finance.  This order
shall not apply to appointments made by the Governor as
provided by law or to the Office of the Governor.

    Section II

     This executive order shall continue in effect for
ninety days or until amended, superseded or revoked by
subsequent executive order.

BOSTON THIS THIRD DAY OF JANUARY IN
