KING Governor EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 223 JUDICIAL NOMINATING COMMISSION WHEREAS, the authority of the Governor to nominate and appoint judicial officers is conferred by Part II, Chapter 2, Section 1, Article 9, of the Constitution of the Commonwealth; and WHEREAS, Governor Edward J. King has chosen to enlist aid to investigate the availability of qualified candidates for judicial office through the vehicle of the Judicial Nominating Commission; and WHEREAS, in Executive Order No. 151, as amended, Governor King set forth the procedures and principles whereby the said Commission is charged with seeking out and screening applicants of the highest quality, ability and temperament to fill vacancies in the offices of judge and clerk in the courts of the Commonwealth; and WHEREAS, the Commission has labored diligently and unselfishly, with honor and a conviction to the highest principles and ethics to identify those such candidates; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate that each individual chief executive officer determine the most proper and efficient method of discharging the duties of office; NOW, THEREFORE, I, Edward J. King, Governor of the Commonwealth, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Supreme Executive Magistrate under the Constitution and Laws of the Commonwealth, do hereby order that: Executive Orders numbered 114, 127, 151, 154 and 178 are hereby revoked.
